It shall be the duty of the director of the department to collect for and issue all licenses for motor vehicles, motor vehicle licenses, temporary instruction permits to drive motor vehicles, and any and all other licenses, which are now or may hereafter be required by law to be issued, collected for, and paid to the State of Alabama or the counties thereof in connection with motor vehicles and for exercising any right or privilege in connection therewith for which a license is now or may hereafter be required; and to collect for and issue all other licenses, except marriage licenses, which are now required or which may hereafter be required by law to be collected for and issued by judges of probate.
