Text

(a)Upon initial hire and in the event of any promotion or change in job title, any employee covered by this part shall be subject to an initial probationary period of six months, except that the length of the probationary period for any employee of the sheriff shall be one year, during which period the employee may be terminated at any time and for any reason, without any right of appeal pursuant to this part.
(b)With respect to any employee whose initial probationary period has expired, an additional period of disciplinary probation may be imposed upon any employee covered by this part, but that employee may exercise his or her right to appeal under Section 45-45-121.06.
