In addition to any other compensation or expense allowance now provided by law, the District Attorney of the Thirty-ninth Judicial Circuit shall have the option of receiving either an automobile furnished for his or her use by the county or a monthly expense allowance equal to one percent of the annual salary paid to him or her by the state. Such district attorney shall make such choice in writing and file same with the county commission within 10 days of May 3, 1988, and the cost of either furnishing such automobile or paying such allowance shall be paid from any funds available to the District Attorney of the Thirty-ninth Judicial Circuit.
