In Limestone County, the county coroner, subject to approval of the county commission, may appoint one or more deputy coroners who shall have the same responsibilities as the coroner. If the county coroner should for any reason vacate the office, any deputy coroner shall serve until a successor is appointed or elected. A deputy coroner shall receive a salary of six hundred dollars ($600) a month to be paid out of the general fund of the county in the same manner as other elected or appointed officials are paid. The salary provided by this section shall be the total compensation of any deputy coroner and shall be in lieu of any other compensation, salary, expense allowance, or fees provided to any deputy coroner prior to the effective date of Act 2024-446.
