Text

(a)In Limestone County, effective beginning the term of office of the coroner after the effective date of Act 2024-446, the salary of the coroner shall be forty thousand dollars ($40,000) per year payable in installments from the general fund of the county. The salary provided by this section shall be the total compensation of the coroner and shall be in lieu of any other compensation, salary, expense allowance, or fees provided to the coroner prior to the effective date of Act 2024-446.
(b)The coroner, by accepting the salary provided by this section or any expense allowance under subsection (b), shall waive any right to any fees or mileage allowance provided to a coroner by general law and the salary provided by this section shall be in lieu of any fees provided by general law.
