Regardless of the authority granted to the board, the authority of the Lee County Sheriff to continue to conduct a work release program for persons detained or sentenced to the custody of the Lee County Sheriff may not be abrogated or curtailed in any manner without the prior approval of the Lee County Sheriff. The Lee County Sheriff may also require that any program participant who is ordered to complete any rehabilitative programs operating in the Lee County Detention Facility or otherwise operating under the authority of the sheriff be assessed a reasonable fee for participation in those programs.
