(a)General administration. The role of the pension board is established by the State of Alabama through legislative act. The pension board is responsible for the general administration and proper operation of the plan. The pension board also is responsible for making effective the provisions of the act.
(b)Qualifications of pension board members. In addition to the qualifications set forth in subsection (c), any individual elected or appointed to the pension board shall complete a background check before the commencement of his or her term. A prior conviction for a crime of moral turpitude including, but not limited to, the misappropriation of the funds or property of another, as determined by the pension board, shall disqualify any individual elected or appointed to the pension board fr
