In Coffee County, each election officer shall be entitled to a local supplement so that the total compensation of each election officer shall be fifty dollars ($50) per day. The amount of any local supplement shall be in addition to the mileage provided to election officers pursuant to the general laws of this state. The local supplement shall be paid as a preferred claim out of monies in the county treasury not otherwise appropriated on proper proof of services rendered. Any local supplement provided pursuant to this section shall not affect the compensation paid out of state funds.
