Text

(a)In circumstances not specifically provided in the general laws of the state, including specifically without limitation Chapter 12 of Title 35; Section 20-2-93, and Title 28, the Sheriff of Choctaw County is hereby authorized to sell at public auction confiscated, abandoned, or unclaimed personal property as hereinafter provided.
(b)Prior to the sale of property as described in subsection (a), the sheriff must advertise such sale, the time and place thereof, and a description of the property, at least once a week for four successive weeks in a newspaper having countywide circulation. The sheriff or one of his or her officers must conduct entirely any such public sale, and any proceeds thereof shall be deposited in the Pistol Permit Account for the sheriff’s department.
