(a)There is hereby created and established a continuing Women’s Commission, hereinafter referred to as the commission, which shall be composed of three members of the House of Representatives appointed by the Speaker of the House, two members of the Senate appointed by the President Pro Tem of the Senate, and the following members appointed by the Governor: One member shall be appointed from each congressional district and three members shall be appointed from the state-at-large. (b) Members shall be selected on the basis of their interests and knowledge in, and their ability to make contributions to, the solutions of problems related to the status of women.
(c) The commission shall report to the Governor and the Legislature.
(d) Vacancies on the commission shall be filled by appointment in the same manner provided for the appointment of the initial members. Any appointment to replace a member whose position becomes vacant prior to the expiration of the term shall be filled only for the remainder of the term.
(e) Members of the commission shall receive no compensation for their services, except that they may be reimbursed for reasonable and necessary expenses incident to their duties as members of the commission, in accordance with state law.
