(a)Within 30 days after initial employment, a security officer or armed security officer shall apply to the board for a license or certification. On or after May 21, 2009, all security officers or armed security officers not exempted under Section 34-27C-17, shall apply to the board for a license or certification in accordance with this chapter. A license or certification card issued by the board shall be carried by each security officer and armed security officer while performing his or her duties. A temporary card shall be issued by the board and be in the possession of the applicant or licensee while working as a security officer or armed security officer pending the application process, the completion of training, and the issuance of his or her license or certification.
