§ 34-22-40 — Creation; Composition; Terms of Office; Annual Meeting

(a)(1) In order to accomplish the purposes and to provide for the enforcement of this chapter, there is created the Alabama Board of Optometry. The board may implement and enforce this chapter. On October 10, 1975, the State Board of Optometry as then constituted shall be abolished, but the members thereof shall serve as members of the Alabama Board of Optometry created by this section and shall continue to serve until their present terms of appointment expire, as set out below. The membership of the board shall be inclusive and reflect the racial, gender, geographic, urban, rural, and economic diversity of the state. Until October 1, 1992, the Alabama Board of Optometry shall consist of five individuals, no two of whom shall reside in the same United States Congressional District. On Octo
