§ 34-14A-82 — Proposal, Adoption, and Implementation of Alabama Residential Building Code

(a)By October 1, 2025, the council shall submit to the Home Builders Licensure Board for adoption the proposed Alabama Residential Building Code. The board may adopt or reject the code as proposed by the council.
(b)The proposed Alabama Residential Building Code, and any subsequent amendment to the code, shall be based upon a published edition of the Alabama Energy and Residential Code as adopted and amended from the International Residential Code (IRC) and the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC). Subsequent recommendations for adoptions or amendments to the Alabama Residential Building Code shall be based upon published editions of the IRC and IECC.
