§ 32-5-313 — Disposition of Funds

All moneys collected pursuant to Section 12-14-14 and Section 12-19-1, et seq., for disbursement to the State Drivers’ Fund shall be forwarded by the officer of the court who collects the same to the State Treasurer, no less than once a month and not later than the 15th day of each month. All amounts so received shall be credited to special funds to be designated the “Driver Education and Training Fund,” “Alabama College System Truck Driver Training Consortium Fund,” the “Catastrophic Trust Fund for Special Education,” and the “Alabama Traffic Safety Center Fund,” and of the amounts so received, an amount equal to 21 percent thereof is hereby appropriated to the State Department of Education for the sole purpose of instituting and conducting a program of prelicensing driver education and t

All amounts so received shall be credited to special funds to be designated the “Driver Education and Training Fund,” “Alabama College System Truck Driver Training Consortium Fund,” the “Catastrophic Trust Fund for Special Education,” and the “Alabama Traffic Safety Center Fund,” and of the amounts so received, an amount equal to 21 percent thereof is hereby appropriated to the State Department of Education for the sole purpose of instituting and conducting a program of prelicensing driver education and training; an amount equal to 36 percent thereof is hereby appropriated to the state Department of Postsecondary Education to be distributed equally to the entities comprising the Alabama College System Truck Driver Training Consortium on July 29, 1991, for the sole purpose of instituting and conducting programs of truck driver education and training as outlined by the U.S. Department of Transportation with support and recommendations from the transportation industry within such Alabama College System Truck Driver Training Consortium; provided, however, that these funds shall be expended only by institutions under the control of the State Board of Education; an amount equal to 10 percent thereof is hereby appropriated to the Alabama Traffic Safety Center Fund for the sole purpose of conducting programs in traffic safety, motorcycle safety, and boating safety by the center; an amount equal to 3 percent is hereby appropriated to the State Safety Coordinating Committee for payment of administrative expenses incurred in its programs; and the remaining 30 percent is hereby appropriated to the Catastrophic Trust Fund for Special Education to be administered by the State Department of Education except that before the above distribution occurs, the amount equivalent to an amount generated by one dollar fifty cents ($1.50) of the above increase shall be transferred to the Highway Traffic Safety Fund for the Department of Public Safety and is hereby appropriated to the Department of Public Safety for law enforcement purposes.
