Public school teachers, whether or not tenured, may contract with local boards of education to work less than full time so long as their salaries reflect employment for less than a full day, week, or contract year and are commensurate with the salary schedule hourly rate of pay adopted by the Legislature, based on their educational attainment and experience; provided however, that any part-time teacher receiving benefits from the Teachers’ Retirement System shall conform to the criteria and prescribed limits for outside income as provided in subsection (a) of Section 16-25-26.
