Text

Military installations are a major source of economic stability for Alabama and, particularly, Madison County and North Alabama and are important to our Nation’s defense. The United States Department of Defense was legislatively directed to reorganize its military installation infrastructure through the 2005 Base Realignment and Closure (2005 BRAC) process. As a result of the 2005 BRAC and anticipated future base realignment and closure activities, Madison County and North Alabama have and are expected to experience significant growth which demands modernizing and expanding the infrastructure for schools, and school related capital projects, in the areas impacted by the growth at Redstone Arsenal. It is expected that Alabama will gain thousands of high paying jobs because of the 2005 BRAC
