Text

As used in this article, the following words and phrases shall have the following meanings:

(1)MUNICIPALITY. Any Class 1 municipality located in the State of Alabama.
(2)DISTRICT MANAGEMENT CORPORATION. An entity created by incorporation under The Alabama Nonprofit Corporation Act (Chapter 3A of Title 10), and designated by ordinance to manage a self-help business improvement district.
(3)SELF-HELP BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT. A geographical area, whether or not contiguous, within a municipality designated by ordinance as an area in which a special assessment may be levied on the owners of the real property located within the geographical area of the district for the purposes of providing supplemental services within the district and promoting the economic and general welfare of the d
