Text

Every councilman, officer and employee of the municipality shall, before entering upon the duties of his office, take and subscribe to the following oath or affirmation, to be filed and kept in the office of the city clerk: “I solemnly swear (or affirm) that I am eligible for the office of _____ and will execute the duties of same according to the best of my ability, and that I will support the Constitutions and will obey the laws of the United States and of the State of Alabama; that I will, in all respects, observe the provisions of the ordinances of the City of _____, and will faithfully discharge the duties of the office of _____.”
