Appeal from an order of the Supreme Court (Demarest, J.), entered April 4, 2003 in St. Lawrence County, which, inter alia, granted plaintiffs motion to extend the duration of the notice of pendency nunc pro tunc.

Defendant Gilbane Building Company, the construction manager on a project to improve two buildings on the campus of defendant St. Lawrence University (hereinafter defendant), hired plaintiff as a subcontractor to complete work on the buildings. Claiming nonpayment of labor and materials expenses, plaintiff filed a mechanic’s lien on the renovated buildings. On September 29, 1999, plaintiff commenced this action seeking, among other things, recovery in quantum meruit and to fore[912] close on the mechanic’s lien.
