Opinion

OPINION OF THE COURT

Margaret Cammer, J.

These are 4 of approximately 250 applications submitted by Brooklyn Union Gas Company in the midst of the winter season for an order to allow a city marshal to break open, enter and search defendants’ apartments and seize their gas meters. Requested relief is premised on claimed nonpayment by defendants of their utility bills.
