History

Source: Neb. Const. art. I, sec. 27 (1920); Adopted 1920, Constitutional Convention, 1919-1920, No. 3. Note: This section may be unconstitutional as applied to nonpublic schools, in light of Meyer v. Neb., 262 U.S. 390, 43 S. Ct. 625, 67 L. Ed. 1042 (1923). But Meyer concerned a statute enacted in 1919, and did not address this constitutional provision, which was enacted in 1920. The constitutionality of this section remains undecided.
